Sonài is a multimedia exhibition by the Venice-based art collective Mollified (Cosima Montavoci and Lorenzo Passi). Through glassmaking, they explore the fragility of a society shaped by taboos and cultural bigotry. Seeking to subtly raise awareness of issues that are often marginalized, Sonài is a reflection on "invisible illnesses", conditions that are often dismissed as psychosomatic despite being undeniably real.
The suspended sculptures embrace these illnesses, merging with pill-like forms. Bound by Iron plates, they suggest both support and restraint. Echoing the Venetian word for "sound" while recalling the slur "crazy," Sonài is an interactive sound installation: white noise intensifies as visitors approach and touch the glassworks, making the unseen perceptible.
