Swallow for ArtNight Venezia

On the occasion of Venice Art Night, the Venetian collective Mollified presents Swallow, a selection of works from the series alongside new, previously unseen sculptures premiered at Sunset Yogurt.

Mollified Collective

Through glass, Swallow observes, with both an anthropological and empathetic gaze, an increasingly widespread and shared condition, questioning the boundary between normality and psychological distress. The project stems from the awareness that the line between mental health and illness is becoming ever more blurred, making stigma something fragile and arbitrary, potentially close to each one of us.

The works feature pills, capsules, and tablets entirely made of glass and embedded within large masses of transparent glass. The thermal shock between hot and cold generates waves and distortions that transform the glass into a lens capable of altering the perception of the surrounding reality. Through these fluid surfaces, the pharmaceutical becomes a contemporary symbol of the human desire to find protection and relief.

Founded in 2022 by Cosima Montavoci and Lorenzo Passi, Mollified develops a research practice that addresses complex themes of the human condition through a language that is ironic, delicate, yet irreverent. Swallow emerged from the evolution of the collective’s previous series, inspired by contemporary ex-votos, continuing their reflection on the ways human beings confront fragility and vulnerability.
